Here are the first picturesNorthwest Potters San Juans 2002 - Itinerary belowThis is the official notice of the San Juan Islands Potter Group Invitational Cruise. The dates: August 29th (my birthday) thru Sept. 2 (Labor Day). Launch point would be Washington Park in Anacortes again. If anyone prefers Bellingham they are welcome to go there and meet the group in Friday Harbor on Friday Night for the BBQ. Itinerary will include at least one anchorage with no facilities and at least two nights in marinas with full facilities. Exact itinerary will be left up to last minute decisions based on wind, weather, and whales. Please reply with indications of interest to the list so that everyone can see what level of interest there is. Be prepared for crowds, possible fog in the straights, and possibly no wind in the islands, all the worst case scenarios. Best case scenarios is clear weather, sunshine, hot, with some good sailing in the larger straights, Rosario, Haro, San Juan, etc. Michele Sladko
First Night: Blakely Island Marina Slip B-13 and rafted all together, bow-in. 70 foot dock. $15 per boat, no anchorage available. My credit card is holding the reservation, but we'll all pay the night we stay there. They have a picnic area for groups so pack your picnic dinner and lets eat as a group. Showers in the bathrooms. Second Night: Deer Harbor Marina The "late group" will leave around noon on Friday, August 30, and will hook up with the main group at Deer Harbor Anchorage is available, but "Craig" is giving us a great deal, we have reserved 40 feet of dock on the "outside of the dogleg", and he's only charging us for two boats. $40 bucks, and we can raft out as many boats as we like. Once we know how many boats, we'll all split the cost evenly. Showers available, small store, deli. We'll just eat on our boats. Third Night: Friday Harbor - group raft on Jim Devaney's Float - No charge. Bathrooms available, and showers, just a very short row over to the main dock. BBQ on Jim's float. He'll do the cooking, but you need to bring your own food. Grocerie store is available close by. Fourth Night: Fisherman Bay - anchor out or $15 per boat per night, we need to make reservations for any who want the marina ASAP. So please let me know if you want that, and I'll make the reservations, and then you can pay them that night. Unless I hear from you pronto, there are no reservations made, and we'll all anchor. If anyone is uncomfortable anchoring, you can raft up to another anchored boat, or we can all raft together with a few anchors out at various angles, or, the Buttes of P-19 Spiffy have a separate mooring dock that could support a couple boats only, maybe four. Write me and tell me what you need, or you're anchoring. IMPORTANT: For the first night, Blakely Island Marina, I NEED to know EXACTLY how many of us there will be, and which size boat. I ain't paying $150 if I'm only having five boats. PLEASE write me and CONFIRM, as well as tell me which launch you are participating in. I believe that the second group, the "Friday Contingent", will meet up with the first group, in Deer Harbor, on August 30th. There it is, folks! I think it'll be a lovely trip, with short day-trips,not hours and hours long, and lovely places to visit. Please reply, all who have not yet, about launching. Thank you!
