Greetings friends,
I would like to host a Potter meet in Oak Harbor June 3,4,5.
Not Deception Pass, and not the San Juan Islands.
Oak Harbor, like we did in 2000.
Launching our boats Friday afternoon and retrieving Sunday afternoon,
the tides work fine. I've reserved one "horseshoe" out
on our F dock, which is where we moored all together in 2000. (Click
here for pictures of the 2000 gathering).
If anyone doesn't know, Oak Harbor is situated with wonderful scenic
waterways that include an easy harbor to daysail in, city lights
to enjoy after sunset, easy anchorage outside the marina, or docking
all together in a group for fun socializing, and bigger water to
sail in out in Saratoga Passage and Penn Cove, home of International
Whidbey Island Race Week. It's always fun to sail to Coupeville
for ice cream (about two hours one way). Sometimes we have such
strong winds you won't want to be out in it. Sometimes we have the
loveliest little breeze that only a Potter can move in. The majority
of the time we have beautiful breezes by afternoon. I cannot in
any way tell you what we'll have that weekend, but to those who
have sailed here, ya know it's worth it! If we have a gale, we'll
reef the main and put up the blade and go enjoy some heavy weather
sailing on a keelboat instead! (My Catalina 27).
Saturday evening we'll all walk to town for Mexican food overlooking the
harbor. (2 mile walk).
I hope someone with guitar or otherwise will come and make it wonderful
that way.
Please send email
if you would like to attend.
