Note 1: Traditionally, a boat's "sail number" is its hull serial number. This is true whether or not the sail actually carries a number. The hull serial number - that is, the sail number - is embedded in your Hull Identification Number, or HIN, which ordinarily is embossed on the transom, starboard side, near the top. It also should be on your boat's title, if you are in a title state. You can find information about the HIN, including how to identify the serial number, here.

Note 2: Although phone numbers are optional, you may wish to include your cell phone number, if you have one, as we find them invaluable for coordinating departures when folks plan to sail together, as well as for a back-up to radio communications on the water.
